Project Scorpio has FreeSync 2 and HDMI 2.1 VRR technologies, two technologies designed to offer the best possible gaming quality.
Microsoft's Project Scorpio console bases its processor and graphics card on a custom chip from AMD. The processor specifically would be based on the Jaguar chip from AMD, a rather outdated chip. This console implements, thanks to the use of ADM technology, the FreeSync image synchronization and refresh system and with respect to the video output it makes use of the HDMI 2.1 VRR, allowing us to play with a stable framerate and without tearing, something that the players will appreciate and which is a new technology developed for PC that is implemented in consoles.
Digital Foundry guarantees Project Scorpio will receive FreeSync 2, HDR adames thanks to previous technology, and variable refresh rates in a unified way. This console will also implement the next generation of 'Game Mode' based on HDMI thanks to the use of the HDMI 2.1 standard. Logically, the use of FreeSync 2 requires screens or televisions with this technology and an HDMI port, which is the one used for this technology and also the LFC technology, which is based on low frame rate compensation. There is no information on when the displays with HDMI 2.1 Game Mode will hit the market.
This variable refresh rate technology in a console is very interesting, as 30-60FPS rates are expected in games, which means that the frame rate will be very high and the quality of the game will be raised significantly. That a console has this technology is an important evolution and moves it away from the meaning of a console and they begin to approach what a team dedicated to gaming with other functions would be. Now the only thing missing is that the televisions have compatibility with this technology.
