Microsoft Project Scorpio would rely on DirectX 12 instructions to optimize and improve performance

Microsoft's console, Project Scorpio, relies on DirectX 12 instructions, which allows for better optimization and reduction of instructions in order to improve processing power.

This week the Project Scorpio was unveiled and we saw how the console moved the Forza 6 in 4K @ 60Hz resolution with a 66% GPU load. There are unknowns about this console, specifically whether this console with its characteristics can actually play games directly at 4K or scale to 4K from 1080p. Microsoft about the console has joked about the possible operation under the DirectX 12 graphics engine, in order to reduce the number of instructions and make everything more efficient.

Working under the DX12 graphics engine, it will improve command processing under the custom 2.73GHz processor for this console based on the AMD Jaguar architecture. Possibly the DX12 implementation for the console hardware has been through a direct and optimized system to significantly improve the instructions to the GPU and the CPU processing and thus improve communication between both components and avoid load problems.

'Especially I would move Direct3D 12. We build a GPU command processing system and what this means is that for all high frequency API invocations for games. All of them are going to be implemented natively in the processing command logic, which means that our communication with the GPU is super efficient ', Microsoft commented to the Digital Foundry media.

On the console, they have commented that the instructions that would normally be needed for the processor, would normally be thousands of instructions, extending the processing time, but thanks to the optimization and they have been reduced to eleven instructions. It is a very important reduction, we do not know to what extent this can be good or bad, since improving the implementation and instructions reduces processing time.
