After Pokémon Go, Niantic will bring Monster Hunter to the real world with Monster Hunter Now
Niantic Inc. and CAPCOM have introduced Monster Hunter Now, a mobile game launching this September that brings the Monster Hunter experience to streets, parks and neighborhoods around the world. If Niantic sounds familiar to you, it is because they are the developers of Pokémon go, and are specialized in games that use the real world as a playground.
Niantic will be in charge of the distribution of Monster Hunter Now and will be licensed by CAPCOM. The worldwide release is scheduled for September 2023 on the App Store and Google Play. You can now register on the official website to be selected for upcoming beta tests of the game.
Monster Hunter comes to the real world from Niantic
In Monster Hunter Now, players will go out and join up with others to hunt the world's fiercest monsters, which adds a social component to the experience. When playing on a smartphone, it is possible to easily invite friends to join.
Monster Hunter Now is designed for everyone to enjoy at their own pace, whether you're an experienced monster hunter, haven't played in a while, and even newcomers to the series. For example, players have the ability to mark monsters they encounter while commuting to work or school, and hunt them at a later time, even after closing the app. The game has been created on Niantic's Lightship platform, which uses geolocation technology and augmented reality
Monster Hunter Now will be the ultimate experience for all those who have dreamed of taking on epic monsters and fighting them in the company of friends. It's perfect for bringing it into the real world – packed with fantastic creatures, exciting hunting and opportunities for teamwork, with the best possible graphics on mobile.”
John Hanke, founder and CEO of Niantic.
