We have been talking for many weeks about the expected Intel NUC systems, which would be based on the new Intel processors that implement Kaby Lake cores and AMD Vega M graphics together with an HBM2 memory chip, in the same package. These processors will initially arrive in the Intel NUC Hades Canyon. So far we have seen a piece of these systems, but now, they show us the entire motherboard.
This motherboard implements an Intel Core i7 8709G processor, which would be capable, thanks to the Vega M graphics, of moving games to medium or high quality, depending on the game, at 1080p resolutions. The VRM system stands out a lot, which is apparently a 12 + 2 phase VRM system. Regarding connectivity, it has four USB 3.1 ports, two USB 3.1 Type-C, two Thunderbolt 3, an HDMI 2.0 and two Ethernet ports. It is not seen, but this motherboard would have at least one M.2 slot for an SSD and several SATA 6.0Gbps, for SSD or HDD.
We need to know, about these new Intel NUCs, the performance under these processors, since at the moment, we do not know them, but in terms of high-end gaming performance, we do not have many doubts that it will be a true reference. We don't know the cooling system either, but Kaby Lake + Vega M, they will need a good heatsink for all the heat that must generate.
Personally, I am struck by the chip that can be seen in the lower area. Taking into account that everything is integrated into the processor and that it should not offer excessive or practically null support for overclocking, it is an extremely large chipset, but of course, to support two Thunderbolt 3 ports, two USB 3.1 Type-C and two Ethernet ports, a powerful chipset is required. We assume that when they start to be distributed, we know more about them.
