Intel in a rather rare strategy, to call the Intel Pentium processors of the Kaby Lake family, as Intel Pentium Gold and so far the news in these processors.

This year Intel is doing very strange things and some with very little sense. Its best processor, so far in the market for price and performance, is the Pentium G4560 of which there is no stock and which has gone from € 60 to € 100, thus making it unattractive. This does not matter, what matters is the change of nomenclature from the Kaby Lake family of Intel Pentiums to Intel Pentium Gold, a move that makes little sense, because today the Coffee Lake processors are released.

The affected processors are the aforementioned G4560, in addition to the Pentium G4620 and Pentium G4600. The only change is the nomenclature, adding the term Gold, that all be said, nine months after hitting the market, it makes no sense whatsoever. The craziest of all is that the change will not arrive until November 2, when the Coffee Lake will already be introduced in a large way in the market. Regarding the design of the processor, internally nothing changes. This affects the rebound Gemini Lake, which will become Pentium Silver, while the Celeron will continue to be that, Celeron processors without the Bronze vitola (neither Intel wants them, poor guys). Nor will these processors have updates at the BIOS or motherboard level, since nothing changes other than the name. Everyone can have their free opinion about it, but that of this house is that Intel instead of wasting time retouching a name, should use it in the Optane, for example, which lack an important twist to be interesting units for the Big audience.
