NBA 2K20 starts putting ads that cannot be skipped

NBA 2K20 players have to swallow ads and they can't help themselves. Last year's installment already included this feature.

Very few of us like ads, especially in services or products that we already pay for such as pay television, in magazines, newspapers ... They are a way of getting money for those who carry the support they are on but for users they can be a nuisance. And these announcements have started to make their way to NBA 2K20.

Unavoidable ads in your game

Not that NBA 2K20 was exempt from them. By having the licenses of the NBA teams they need to include the advertisers, and several sites in the story mode are promoted by Snickers or Gatorade... But they are part of the universe and in their emptiness it is understood.

The problem is when those ads get into loading screens and navigating menus and can't be avoided. They put an ad in front of you and you can't press any button to make it go away. That is what NBA 2K20 has started to do after a small update, according to a user on Reddit who has got one of those ads.

The most curious thing is that they have started to put them now, when their analysis period has passed and they have given them notes without knowing that they were going to put ads in the game. Very surely if they had known, the analysts would have suspended it and it would not have so much note in Metacritic. Users who are loyal to the franchise despite scandals such as showing microtransactions with casino games have paid sixty euros or dollars for a game and still have to put up with intrusive ads so that 2K Sports makes more money by selling more advertising space.
