The president of Nintendo America says that they have already warned that initially there would be no streaming services on Nintendo Switch, which will be arriving in the coming weeks or months.
The Nintendo Switch is a console that is committed to being a versatile platform, being able to play portable or connecting it to the television through the dock Station. Nintendo's bet is to make a console that also serves as a multiplayer platform and also as a multimedia platform and it has been announced that they could soon start having extra services, as is the case with Netflix, so it would not simply stay on a console.
The center of criticism of this console is how limited it is at the moment, since it only has a handful of video games and does not offer extra services, such as access to multimedia content and other systems. Nintendo in January already said that the console would not initially have streaming services, something that some seem to have not heard.
Reggie Fils-Aime, the president of Nintendo America, on streaming content has said: 'We are in talks with a group of companies about other services, like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon… things that will come in due time. From our point of view, those are not differentiators. What sets us apart is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch, and what you can play with the console. And that will continue to be our focus going forward, as we continue to drive this platform. '
Another of the critical centers is the catalog, really limited, to which Fils-Aime has already said that they are developing more titles and that the starting games and those that would arrive this year have already been announced and that all this added will make people buy the console. The reality is that the console seems to be in an initial phase and arrives without a large enough catalog and without streaming services, something that would be slowing down sales, which on the other hand, are really good.
