“Customers consistently tell us how much they appreciate having a front light on their Kindle devices so they can read in any environment, even in bed at night,” said Eric Saarnio, Head of Amazon Devices in Europe. “The team has been hard at work bringing this customer-favorite feature to the most affordable device. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce the new Kindle, the first Kindle under €100 to feature a built-in, adjustable front light.”
New Kindle - Now with front light
Like all Kindle devices, this new device provides a seamless, distraction-free reading experience, and features a glare-free backlit display with crisp, quality text that allows you to read like paper. The new adjustable headlight makes it even more comfortable to read in different places, while the battery continues to last for weeks. The new Kindle also features updated e-ink technology for better contrast and also includes a capacitive touchscreen to prevent accidental slipping on the six-inch 167 dpi screen.
The revamped design offers all of these great features while keeping the device slim and light, making it super easy to grip to comfortably hold in your hands for long reading sessions. The new Kindle also incorporates some of the customer's favorite features — storage capacity to hold thousands of books, so customers can always carry their library with them; a battery system that lasts for weeks, not hours; and a durable design that makes it easy to carry around on a day-to-day basis.
Even more stories with Kindle Unlimited
Kindle devices come with instant access to the Kindle Store, which offers the world's best selection of content. To make it even easier to start reading on the new Kindle, as of April 10 and for a limited time, Amazon customers who subscribe to Kindle Unlimited will be able to enjoy the subscription for the first three months for zero euros. Kindle Unlimited provides unlimited access to over 1 million great titles in a wide range of genres, including The Assassination of Socrates (2016 Planeta Prize Finalist), by Marcos Chicot; The doctorby Noah Gordon; Anna Karenina, by Lev N. Tolstoy; Y Noah's notebook, de Nicholas sparks. After those three months, Kindle Unlimited is only $ 9,99 per month.
New reading features that go beyond a physical book
The new Kindle helps you have a reading experience that goes beyond a book thanks to the latest reading capabilities from Amazon. Now when you finish a book, it will automatically be marked as read in your library and synced across all your reading devices, including Kindle, Fire tablet, and the free Kindle apps for iOS and Android. With just a few taps on the screen, you can filter to see which books you have read and which you haven't, so organizing your library has never been easier.
Plus, last year we introduced a new home screen experience that made it easier to find your next great read. We continue to add features to this experience and now you will find even more recommendations based on your reading history, including new and trending titles on Kindle Unlimited and the Kindle Store.
These features will be delivered free of charge via software update for the new Kindle, for the Kindle Paperwhite (6th generation), and for new devices to be released soon.
Favorite Features of Kindle Readers
The new Kindle includes the features that have made the Kindle family the best reading devices:
