Synology Unveils New Product Range for 2019

Synology Launches Dual-active UC300 Unified Controller, All-in-One Backup Solution, First Mesh Router, and Brand's OS Update for Its Routers

Synology Inc. has held its annual Synology 2019 event today in Madrid. During the event, completely new products and applications were presented, such as the new version of DiskStation Manager 7.0 (DSM 7.0), which is more stable and intuitive; a new line of products; the Dual-active UC300 unified controller, which provides 2200/1.2 service to businesses; Active Backup Suite with a free license aimed at the business backup market, and the Mesh Router MR1.2ac equipped with Synology Router Manager XNUMX (SRM XNUMX), among others.

“Synology continues to offer secure and reliable products and services to its customers. As a provider of data storage solutions, we have received numerous accolades from various sectors, including government and defense institutions, finance, technology, and manufacturing, to name a few. In the near future, Synology will continue to explore different markets, leveraging technologies such as machine learning , and creating comprehensive solutions focused on storage, off-site backup, network communication, and cloud services,” explained Derren Lu, CEO of Synology Inc.

DSM 7.0 makes systems administration easy for IT administrators

The new DSM 7.0 user interface adopts a more streamlined visual design and significantly reduces noise, allowing users to focus on the information in the navigation system. The newly added “guided” mode contains more than 1.500 contextual and interactive messages, allowing users to know what has happened, why it happened, and how to deal with abnormal situations when they arise. This helps keep everything under control.

To deliver a more stable storage framework, DSM 7.0 is equipped with Synology's exclusive RAID rapid rebuild technology and built-in machine learning techniques that facilitate disk failure prediction and an automatic replacement mechanism, implementing multiple layers of protection for discs. Furthermore, the new CMS 2.0 makes it easy for a central Synology NAS device to manage up to 10.000 other NAS devices, making large-scale deployment possible for corporate users.

A more stable working field for business with the UC300 dual-active unified controller

More than 25% of Synology users are using the iSCSI Target service. To provide them with a standard that makes their work easier, Synology will launch a new product line: UC300 (Unified Controller), the first iSCSI dedicated server equipped with a dual-active controller. This controller can ensure uninterrupted service when it occurs with a single point of failure and provides great performance with more than 100,000 IOPS.

Disruptive Innovation: Active Backup Suite with Free License Targeting the Enterprise Storage Market

Companies in the past could not afford a complete data protection solution due to lack of resources from the IT department or administration. According to statistics from the International Data Corporation (IDC), more than half of all companies in the Asia-Pacific region have experienced unrecoverable data corruption in the past three years. Synology will launch the free licensed enterprise backup solution Active Backup Suite, which will allow users to protect their data stored in physical, virtual and cloud infrastructures through a single platform. This breaks with conventional practices in the backup market by combining hardware sales and software licenses, and as a result enterprise-grade data backup becomes more accessible.

SRM 2200 equipped MR1.2ac mesh router takes network security and management to the next level

Synology has long focused on software development, making every effort to improve network security and management. Synology MR2200ac's first mesh router is equipped with SRM 1.2 operating system. In addition to the extended Wi-Fi coverage that offers a fast and reliable Internet connection, the intuitive interface also enables users to further understand, monitor and protect their home network.

The new Safe Access package allows users to set different rules for each of them and to monitor Internet usage on all devices. This can control malicious website attacks, protect network devices, and make network security management easier for both home and business users.

In addition to the above-mentioned applications, Synology also announced the novel file streaming feature in the collaborative file sharing application Synology Drive, a new image correction technology using deep learning techniques in Moments, the integration between Synology products and smart voice assistants like Alexa and Siri, Surveillance Station DVA that also integrates with deep learning techniques, and more.
