Synology Inc Introduces Surveillance Station 8.2 Beta to Enable Phones to Become Video Surveillance Cameras
Synology Inc launches new mobile apps that maximize the use of mobile devices
Synology Inc. today announced the beta availability of Surveillance Station 8.2, and welcomed all users around the world who would like to try it out to join the beta testing program. This upcoming release features live cam, the new security camera app that instantly turns a spare phone into an IP camera. The DS cam modernization offers higher performance and better compatibility, along with adding IP speakers to the hardware compatibility list. Complementing the variety of new functionality, the next generation of the “Application Center” will offer greater flexibility for application management. Once the beta phase concludes, all valuable comments and suggestions from users will be taken into account to polish the official release of Surveillance Station 8.2.
“Our latest update to Surveillance Station explores the potential of mobile surveillance both at home and in a corporate environment with the introduction of LiveCam, which features a streamlined interface and more robust app management,” explains Ivan Chang, Product Manager at Synology Inc. “Once the phone is transformed into a security camera via LiveCam, it joins the Surveillance Station network and can view video recordings and be easily accessed with DS Cam.” The app is available in the app center, allowing users to elevate their surveillance capability using various apps to suit their needs. The impact of surveillance deployment is further increased by the support of IP speakers, which make it easy for users to stream and monitor the surrounding areas of these audio devices via paired IP cameras.
Surveillance Station 8.2 beta phase offers new features:
- Turn phones into cameras with LiveCam: the mobile device will become an IP camera. Once LiveCam is installed on the mobile phone, it can be added to Surveillance Station as an IP camera that will allow Edge Recording. Thus, users will be able to use the replacement devices for something useful.
- Application center that knows what you need- The new add-on pack is called “Application Center” and it provides up to 26 applications and utilities. Using the category filter or keyword search, you can quickly locate the application you are looking for and customize Surveillance Station.
- Enhanced DS Cam with Outstanding Performance and Compatibility Capabilities- The next generation of DS Cam not only provides a more streamlined viewing experience, but also multi-timeline capabilities to intuitively search for video images. Furthermore, with license authentication that is developed off-line, the system can easily be implemented at a faster pace.
- Now supports IP speakers: Surveillance Station 8.2 can stream audio or organize scheduled broadcasts on built-in IP speakers. In multi-speaker implementation, individual or group broadcast is also available.
- Monitor large projects with Time Lapse: Time Lapse shortens long videos down to minutes or even seconds. This application is particularly useful for displaying a large-scale project from start to finish.
- Protect data through double authorization- This is a more secure and flexible administration measure. Dual authorization restricts confidential functions, such as managing cameras or accessing video records, to only be performed with authorization from elsewhere. With this additional protection, leakage of sensitive information is prevented.
- Broadcast to the world with Live Broadcast: Emotions can be shared with the rest of the world via live streaming via YouTube without any adjustments. Simply select the camera and add the route information provided on YouTube. This way, the live broadcast is ready for action.
