Synology Introduces DiskStation DS1618 +, Powered by Intel Atom C3568 Processor
Synology Inc. today unveiled the DiskStation DS1618 + server, a 6-bay NAS that features an Intel Atom C3538 microprocessor.
For technology enthusiasts and SMBs, the new Synology DS1618 + server is the perfect all-in-one solution to function as a file server, application hosting, data backup and real-time collaboration tool. . All this in addition to exceptional performance.
DS1618 + comes equipped with an Intel Atom quad-core processor® C3538 and 4 GB of DDR4 non-ECC SODIMM, expandable up to 32 GB in ECC SODIMM. Storage capacity can be increased to 192TB by connecting it to two DX517 expansion units, giving rapidly growing businesses a data storage solution that keeps up with them and grows as their business grows.
“Modern businesses evolve and grow based on the speed at which they generate, process and use the data at their disposal to drive innovations,” explains Derren Lu, CEO of Synology. “By integrating Intel technology, we offer every SME the possibility of working with a compact central server. This allows them to take advantage of untapped performance to give their companies an additional edge against the competition.”
With Synology's M2D17 PCIe adapter card, the DS1618 + can host two M.2 SATA SSDs and thus take advantage of the SSD cache for maximum performance and reduced I / O latency. Through the installation of a network interface card (NIC) in the PCIe slot, the DS1618 + supports a maximum of two 10GbE ports for a maximum throughput of 1551 MB / s read and 586 MB / s write.
“SMBs need powerful, secure, and scalable storage solutions to efficiently manage the storage of their growing levels of digital content,” said Dan Artusi, vice president and general manager of Intel's Connected Home Division. “Through our collaboration with Synology, their DiskStation NAS devices that integrate our Intel Atom processor® C-series feature configurable high-speed I/O and performance to help businesses quickly store and manage their most critical data.”
DS1618 + runs with DiskStation Manager, Synology's advanced and intuitive operating system for NAS devices that offers a wide range of quality applications to improve data security and work efficiency. Synology has received numerous accolades in the media, including top spot in the Mid-Range NAS category in TechTarget's Storage Solutions Survey and PC Mag Magazine's Readers' Choice Award for seven consecutive years.
Synology's Extended Warranty add-on service (EW201) can be purchased together with the NAS DS1618 + (only available in select regions around the world) to enjoy up to five years of hardware warranty coverage.
