Synology Introduces RackStation RS819, First Value Series Rack Server with Instant Copy Technology
Synology Inc. introduces the new RackStation RS819, a compact and scalable 4-bay rackmount NAS featuring instant copy technology. It is designed for business workgroups, allowing data to be managed, shared, synchronized and backed up effectively.
“For growing workgroups with limited budgets, setting up an effective data protection and backup plan is sometimes not the top priority, leading to catastrophic losses in the event of a server failure,” said Michael Wang, Product Manager at Synology. “Powered by the new quad-core 64-bit CPU, the RS819 is our first Value Series RackStation to offer Instant Copy technology, enabling easy and simple data protection.”
Less than 31 inches deep for flexible installation
The RS819 features a 1U 4-bay rack-mount chassis that is less than 31 inches deep. Plus, it can be easily installed in a wall-mounted or 2-unit rack, ideal for offices where space is at a premium.
The main features of the RS819 are as follows:
- 64-bit quad-core processor and 4GB DDR2 memory
- Over 224MB / s encrypted read speed
- Advanced Btrfs file system offering 4096 system-wide snapshots and 256 copies per shared folder
- Expandable storage capacity up to 112TB with Synology's RX4 drive
Powered by Synology DiskStation Manager
The RS819 works with DiskStation Manager, Synology's advanced and intuitive operating system for NAS devices, which incorporates various applications for better productivity at work. Synology has received numerous awards from the media, topping the Best Mid-Range NAS category in TechTarget's Storage Solutions Survey and winning the PC Mag Readers' Choice Award for eight years in a row.
