MSI has announced the arrival of a special BIOS that allows installing and running six graphics cards on their motherboards without major problems and being able to mine Ethereum and Zcash.

Nobody wants to be left out of the lucrative cryptocurrency market, something that is being seen after the disappearance of the stock of AMD RX 480/580 and the rise in price of NVIDIA GTX 1060/1070 graphics due to the rapid decrease in stock due to to mining. The rise of Ethereum and Zcash a few weeks ago, caused this effect, although now there are many who sell the hardware, because things do not work as expected or because they have a wrong assembly due to hearing unqualified voices. MSI knows the potential of mining and has developed a special BIOS for such use.

MSI's new BIOS is directly focused on mining cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum and Zcash, which are currently mined with commercial graphics (we must remember that Bitcoin is not mined with graphics, but with ASICs, which have a high cost and a large consumption and it is not profitable to mine this currency, because it is mined basically in China, where electricity is almost given away). What this BIOS offers us is a solution to a problem that occurred in MSI motherboards, which made it difficult to recognize six graphics cards.

This solution has been developed for those who have six graphics cards on a Skylake motherboard with Intel 100 Series chipset. Although some problems are solved, it seems that not all the errors have been solved, since the graphic cards placed in the third and fourth position, a series of exclamations appear within the device manager of the operating system, which points to some kind of problem or error. MSI has been the target of much criticism in this regard and it seems that in part, everything is solved with this new BIOS.

Compatibility with six graphics cards for mining has been added after a BIOS update: the Z170-A PRO, Z170A SLI PLUS, Z170 KRAIT GAMING, Z170A KRAIT GAMING, Z170A KRAIT GAMING 3X, Z270-A PRO, and H270-A PRO. This allows these motherboards to be used for mining Ethereum and Zcash, overcoming the loss of mining power. The BIOS now includes the Above 4G Memory/Crypto Currency Mining function, which must be enabled in the BIOS to allow mining with more than four graphics cards.
