NVIDIA increases sales of discrete graphics to the detriment of a depleted AMD

NVIDIA continues to increase its discrete graphics market share, increasing 72.8% during the third quarter of this year, while AMD loses market share and margins to 27%.

The graphics card market for NVIDIA begins to be a serious problem, which has seen how the AMD RX Vega did not arrive to solve anything, on the contrary, the initial stock problems, the very high price, the delay in reaching the market for customized versions by the different manufacturers and the very high consumption are weighing on the company. Jon Peddie Research have released a new report, where he talks about discrete graphics, where NVIDIA continues to gain market share from its main rival. The third quarter has seen an increase in the gap between the two companies.

The distribution of discrete graphics cards are the highest in the last five years, causing a significant rise that represents an increase of 29.1% compared to the previous quarter. This third quarter, in general computing, registers a strong increase in the distribution of discrete graphics cards. The data shows us the graphic products distributed by the companies and their AIB partners and does not take into account the integrated graphic solutions.

This increase in demand is given by the market for cryptocurrency mining and games of chance, which have set a new record for this market. In general data, as we have said, the increase represents an increase of 29.1% compared to the second quarter and 21.5% compared to the same quarter of last year, data that are exceptional. NVIDIA goes from 69.7% in the second quarter to 72.8% this quarter, while AMD goes from 30.3% in the second quarter to 27.2% in the third quarter. The problems for AMD are still latent and it has to find something to change the trend and as soon as possible, because every time the situation is worse.
