NVIDIA Holodeck, 3D technology combined with haptic technology, allowing a complete experience that has been developed in collaboration with NASA and Koenigsegg, among others.
A special event was held by NVIDIA in Germany to present the latest developments in the automotive sector and virtual reality. Among other things, it has developed its own prototype for Holodeck, a VR platform with photorealistic technology together with different partners involved in the production of 3D and VR content. The most relevant companies he has been working with are NASA, the US space agency and the manufacturer of high-end sports vehicles Koenigsegg, star in the demo video.
Holodeck is named after the popular science fiction series, Star Trek, which is popularly known as the holodeck or holodeck. It is based on a special room with a hologram that has omni-directional holographic diodes that allows the projection of holograms. Through virtual reality, users can interact through a haptic feeling or what is the same, a photorealistic experience based on virtual reality. The minimum specifications to develop under this system are a GTX 1080 Ti, a Titan Xp or a Quadro P6000, under Maya or 3dsMax software to develop 3D models and VR glasses, such as the HTC Vive or the Oculus Rift. Developers who want to develop under this 3D technology can access the NVIDIA Holodeck Early Access program.
"The Holodeck environment enables creators to import full-resolution, high-resolution models into VR to collaborate and share with colleagues or friends and make easier and faster design decisions," said Jen-Hsun Huang.
"Holodeck is based on an enhanced version of Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4 graphics engine and includes NVIDIA GameWorks, VRWorks and DesignWorks technologies, providing unprecedented photorealism and collaborative virtual reality physical simulation."
