NVIDIA lowers the price of the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 due to the arrival of the GTX 1080 Ti

NVIDIA has lowered the price of all its GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards, in addition to the mid-range and entry, after announcing the arrival on March 10 of the GTX 1080 Ti.

The arrival of the GTX 1080 Ti has brought with it a downgrade on high-end graphics cards from NVIDIA. The new NVIDIA graphics, which will cost about € 900, to change and approximately, causes a drop in the price of the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards. It does not seem, at the moment that this translates into a direct drop and prices, but prices will be falling before the arrival of the new GTX 1080 Ti.

NVIDIA announced that the price of the GTX 1080 would be $ 499 in its stock version, which translates to about € 600-700 at the change and the GTX 1070 would cost $ 349, which at the change is about $ 400-450. €. A significant reduction in prices, which has begun to be noticed, in the KFA2 graphics cards. These graphics cards, in Coolmod, are mostly around a reduction of between 11-18% of their original price, being able to find the KFA2 GTX 1080 HOF for about € 700 and KFA2 GTX 1080 EXOC for € 609, in the black and white version. The KF2 GTX 1070 HOF costs about € 510 and KFA2 GTX 1070 EXOC It costs about € 406 in the black and white versions.

The prices of the KFA2 GTX 1060 EXOC which costs € 265 and the KFA2 GTX 1060 OC It costs € 247, extending the sales to the KFA2 GTX 1050 Ti and KFA2 GTX 1050. We do not have data on when the graphics cards from MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte, among others, will drop in price, but it should be throughout this week, early next, to establish margin before the entry of the new GTX 1080 Ti.

It stands out from all this, that NVIDIA is lowering the price of its graphics and has presented a new graphics and AMD, for its part, has not officially presented any graphics card. This year, apart from AMD Vega, we should see the arrival of NVIDIA Volta, although the presentation of this graphics family will depend a lot on what the performance of the AMD Vega graphics cards will be.

  1. Gentlemen please, the fact that a manufacturer delivers lower prices in its line is normal, since if it does not stop being competitive for other well-known assemblers, but that does not imply that the others lower prices to the entire range since they did see the Nvidia presentation the cut only applies to the GTX 1080 and translatably to the GTX 1070 this relative to the fact that the prices of both lines were too inflated and before the arrival of VEGA it is normal that they fall to be able to exercise competition. The GTX1060 lines down will not suffer losses because they are already on par with the prices that AMD played in the beginning.

Now in a foreseeable move by AMD, it did not present its VEGA cards alone and because Nvidia unleashed the arrival of the GTX 1080Ti on the same date as it did when AMD RX480 arrived and surprisingly Nvidia launched the GTX1060 leaving AMD out of action. This time it was normal for AMD to make a move that would not launch its new line of cards to be able to see the movement of Nvidia before AMD moves its chips and Nvidia does not become a new headache at the exit of its new line of graphics .

Now it's just a little thought… what VEGA brings that was able to make Nvidia cut its prices and even leave the GTX1080 Ti at a lower price than previous batches of GTX1080. What is Nvidia afraid of? Could it be that VEGA has been in graphics cards what Ryzen in processors?

    1. There is still not enough information about what Vega promises, or rather, with the "little" information there is about Vega, it is not enough to see how it can compete with the most powerful (high-end) NVIDIA graphics cards. There is a lack of knowledge about what the maximum potential of Vega is, so it is still early to compare anything. This is my opinion.

      1. And that they use HBM2 memories instead of GDDR5 or GDDR5X, this allows the graphics to have much greater bandwidth than what GDDR5 can allow with a not high consumption since it would increase the consumption in GDDR5 memories if they want to increase the bandwidth .

  2. € 600 or € 700 for what it brings is a good price, although still out of the budget of some.
