The latest Oculus Home 1.20 update for virtual reality glasses has problems with the Oculus DK2, which works poorly on computers with AMD graphics cards.
This past week a new version of Oculus Home, the software for Oculus virtual reality glasses, was released. The update introduces new features such as the confirmation of the start of the session to protect your account and the dynamic prices of packages that allows you to take advantage of the sale packages when we already have a part of the package content, but this update brings an important and nothing good news and it is that it would prevent you from using Oculus DK2, according to some reports on Reddit.
Some users have pointed out that the images were not being processed correctly inside the virtual reality glasses. This problem occurred once the software that controls the glasses was updated and among the problems, apparently a green overlay appears on the left screen and the right screen is green with a 90º inversion. After these data in Tom's Hardware They have dusted off the DK2 and updated to the new version of Oculus Home and after updating, they have not detected any problems, although it is indicated that the update is not compatible with the DK2.
From this specialized medium they have been investigating and reviewing the data and have found a pattern and that is that they all show something in common, the problem appears with AMD graphics, specifically in the R9 280, R9 290X and R9 390. They have realized that with NVIDIA graphics are not reported problems. Initially they tested it with an Intel Core i7 5930K and a Zotac GTX 980 Ti and everything has worked correctly, but when changing the graphics card for the Power Color RX 480, the problem has appeared, so the problem is with the AMD graphics.
It is not known why, but there is some kind of incompatibility with AMD products and the Oculus DK2 with the latest software update for VR glasses. The developers have stopped offering DK2 support and a version of Home is not expected to solve this problem, although there is a possibility that AMD will correct this problem. Here there is also another factor, since it does not seem to suppress the DK2 compatibility, since it should not work with an NVIDIA in the system either, it seems that the problem is elsewhere and everything points directly to AMD.
