Dell prepares workstations with AMD Threadripper 5000 Pro

Manufacturer Dell has announced a new series of workstation PCs featuring high-performance AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000WX Pro CPUs. This series is called the Precision 7865. It can be configured in combinations with up to 64 CPU cores, 1TB of DDR4 ECC memory, and an Nvidia RTX A6000 or AMD Radeon Pro W6800 GPU.
According to Dell, the 7865 features a newly designed chassis that is 14% smaller than the old Precision 7820 tower, a greater focus on thermal efficiency and acoustic performance. Its hexagonal vent pattern has been designed to vent air directly to critical system components.
Dell already has computers with Threadripper 5000 Pro
The front of the case contains a large amount of I/O, with two lockable front drive bays to store the operating system. Front I/O includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, one of which is PowerShare-enabled. There's another set of dual USB 3.2 ports, but these have been downgraded to Gen 1 speeds and feature more universal Type-A connectors. It also has an SD 6.0 card reader and a universal audio jack, plus an optional optical drive mount.
The rear inputs and outputs include two Ethernet connectors, one of them 10 Gbps. There are three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and another audio port. There is also a serial connection port, for connecting older devices that could be used with the workstation. High-speed Thunderbolt 3 connectivity is also an option, but it comes in the form of an add-on card. Video connections are totally dependent on your graphics card selection, as there are no integrated graphics in the Ryzen Threadripper.

The 7865's core specs include options for any of AMD's Ryzen Threadripper Pro CPUs, including the 64-core portion. The maximum GPU configuration includes two 300W Nvidia or AMD Pro GPUs, and storage capacity can go up to 56TB maximum capacity with RAID options and self-encrypted. As for RAM capacity, there are a total of eight DDR4 RDIMM slots for a maximum capacity of up to 1TB at 3200MHz. The entire system is powered by a 80W 1350 Plus power supply.
According to Dell, the Precision 7865 will be available this summer worldwide. The base configuration will most likely be in the $3.000 range. It should be said that a configuration with 1 TB of RAM would raise the cost to tens of thousands of dollars, but since they are workstations, they are equipment for companies and freelancers that can eliminate much of the cost as a business expense.
