Samsung creates a remote that does not need batteries to work

Samsung's SolarCell Remote may be the first remote control for televisions capable of charging wirelessly through the router. Samsung has re-introduced the SolarCell, the remote control that works with solar energy and which it already presented at CES last year.

This new version comes with the addition of the ability to harvest radio frequency signals from your WiFi router to maintain the load. The idea of this remote is that it stores very little energy and only uses it for when it comes to sending signals to the television. In this way, neither batteries nor batteries will be needed to function.

A remote control that charges with the WiFi

The concept of radiofrequency energy harvesting is not new. The fact that practically every house has a WiFi router that emits these radio frequencies makes this Samsung remote an attractive and low-consumption energy solution. This is possible in systems that cannot necessarily be connected to the electrical current, so a remote control is ideal to implement this technology.

In addition, this occasion would be the first time that the technology is used in consumer electronics. Unlike other wireless charging solutions, such as near-field Qi, the remote control Echo Remote it does not have to be very close or in contact with the router. RF energy harvesting can reach devices up to 40 meters away if there are no obstacles in the way.

According to Samsung, the controller does not need or have batteries, although you have not claimed that it has a battery or not to store a minimum amount of energy. Solar Cell Remote It's made from recycled materials and is now available in black or white. Samsung has said that it is supplied with all televisions Samsung QLED 4K and 8K starting this year.
