Tesla to launch its autonomous taxi service in 2020
Automaker Tesla is looking to greenlight its long-awaited autonomous taxi service next year. They comply with the open secret that had emerged since the introduction of autonomous driving.
Since Tesla announced years ago that their cars would have an autonomous driving system in various ways, it began to speculate that little by little they would put a taxi system. The great doubt was whether it would be with cars that are owned by users or with cars that are completely their own, but knowing that they are not able to meet good deadlines with their demand for cars, they have decided that it will be the users who put their cars if they want to receive some money.
This was announced by Elon Musk during an event in which he confirmed that his robotaxis service will arrive in 2020. He added that it will be where the law allows it since at the moment not all state laws allow driving without human intervention, with many states requiring there to always be a human with their hands on the wheel.

The model they are looking for is similar to that of Uber and Lyft in which users act as taxi drivers with their cars, but without having to be with them as a driver. Thanks to autonomous driving, users will be able to leave their cars manufactured since 2016 in a fleet that will handle Tesla and they will keep up to 30% of what they have obtained. It does not specify how the car will be left, the recharge management, the types of trips and the responsibilities of Tesla if there are damages in the car.
At the moment there are still many doubts to be resolved in the face of a service that should be active in less than two years. It would be one more step after the emergence of Uber and Lyft as major responsible for transportation in the United States in a society so dependent on the car.
