Overwatch arrives at its Winterland event in 2019

Every year, Overwatch celebrates Christmas through an event called Winterland. That means it's time to go back to the game to play the game modes it brings back and try to get new skins and tasks.

As it is December, we are back to the Christmas event, so we can expect that all the cosmetics and game modes of this event will be Christmas themed. Now, when will the event be active? From today until January 2.

Enjoy Christmas in Blizzard multiplayer

As usual with events, now that it has started, if we enter Overwatch between the two dates mentioned above, we will get a totally free themed loot box. Blizzard will be selling them for sale from Battle.net and throughout the event the loot boxes that are sold will be event themed, and we are guaranteed to have those themed skins. We are guaranteed that at least one of the cosmetics they will give us will be from the Christmas event.

And as is now standard for Overwatch players, specific game modes where we haven't won a match will reward us with a themed loot box . We'll also earn them in Arcade mode at a rate of three boxes per week if we win three, six, or nine matches that week, respectively. And of course, there's leveling up, which will give us plenty of opportunities to acquire all those cosmetics.

If you happen to want to wait for Overwatch 2 to be released, you don't have to quit the current game because all your cosmetics will be transferred to the sequel as soon as it launches on Battle.net and integrates with the original game's client . So, if you're still playing Overwatch, you have access to special game modes that will last for the duration of this event, and even more cosmetics to collect and show off to friends and foes.
