Microsoft's part for Meltdown and Specter prevents AMD processor-based computers from booting

Microsoft has rolled it up again and it is that the Windows security patch that fixes the Meltdown and Specter vulnerability, prevents computers with an AMD processor from booting.

The Specter and Meltdown vulnerability, which mainly affects Intel processors, but also ARM and AMD processors, is causing a headache, even for Microsoft, which has disabled updates to the security patch that addresses the vulnerability. The problem is in computers with AMD processors, who seem to not support the security patch, preventing these computers from starting, due to the rush that Microsoft has had to launch a security update for Windows, without having it well tested, which on the other hand, he is not new to the company.

The KB4056892 update causes computers with relatively old AMD processors to not boot. After learning about this skid, the company has stopped the distribution of the security patches and has published a note about it. The fault, according to Microsoft, is AMD, who has not provided its engineers with the necessary documentation to develop the patch, recognizing that they have not been able to test these patches on computers with an AMD processor, to see how it worked, before being released .

Microsoft has reports that some customers with AMD equipment are seeing their equipment fail to boot after installing the latest Windows operating system security updates. '

"After investigation, Microsoft has determined that some AMD chipsets do not conform to documentation previously provided to Microsoft to develop Windows operating system mitigations to protect against known chipset vulnerabilities such as Specter and Meltdown." Excerpt from Microsoft's official statement.

Both companies seem to be already in direct contact working on solving this skid. For users who cannot boot, there is no choice but to install a version without this security patch, which cannot be downloaded at the moment. These vulnerabilities are giving everyone a lot of problems and headaches and unfortunately, there is much to talk about this.
