Amazon would be working on a copy of the Apple AirPods with support for Alexa
It seems that Amazon is finalizing the development of its own wireless headphones, which will integrate its voice assistant Alexa.
Apple AirPods are the new craze for wireless headphones, which have been highly copied. Currently, Apple's solution would have a 60% market share, according to Counterpoint Research. The second generation AirPods have recently been released. We can also find the Powerbeats Pro, the Samsung Galaxy Buds and the Xiaomi AirDots. Now Bloomberg reports that Amazon works on its wireless headphones that feature Alexa.
Amazon finalizes the launch of its wireless headphones with Alexa
We have seen how the company has launched different versions of Echo, smart watches and even a microwave. The company's idea is to bring Alexa to other devices outside the home, such as the Echo Auto. Said Echo Auto has not yet been released and is still in beta, after an acoustic problem was detected.
To expand the range of products with support for Alexa, Amazon has started working with Bose and Sony to add it. As explained by Bloomberg, Amazon's solution would be based on AirPods. These are held in the ear and do not have a headband or other support element.
They would not have any type of button, but the surface would be large enough to be able to operate by gestures. These would allow answering calls, raising or lowering the volume and even changing songs. Also through Alexa we could control them using voice commands.
These Amazon headphones will only work when connected to a smartphone, either iOS or Android. The Alexa app would also be required to access the voice assistance features. They would be charged through the case, like most of these headphones, offering more autonomy. Rumor has it, the price would not be tempting at all, speculating that it will be below the $ 199 AirPods cost, but how much is unknown.
