Facebook and Ray Ban take out their glasses to record stories

They try again to get glasses with cameras to record videos on a social network. Facebook and Ray Ban have teamed up to release a series of glasses with integrated camera lenses to upload first-person videos to your Facebook and WhatsApp stories.

Facebook's smart glasses are called Ray-Ban Stories, they can take photos and record a 30-second video. They can also play music, make calls, and record a podcast. For now they are available for sale in the US, UK, Canada, Italy, Ireland and Australia.

Smart glasses with cameras are back

The smart glasses are available in three designs and have frames in various colors and with different types of lenses, from which customers can select according to their needs. To comply with the privacy laws of various countries, they have an outward-facing LED light that shows other people whether the cameras are being used or not.

The frame arms double as earpieces and touch controls for making calls, volume control and music playback. Ray-Ban Stories come with a built-in virtual assistant that allows users to take photos and videos hands-free. Just say “Hey Facebook” and it will take photos. Sharing will require the use of the Facebook View app.

For now, their prices range between $ 299 and $ 379 depending on the model through the official Ray-Ban website. There have already been attempts to make sunglasses serve as cameras for an app like Snapchat's glasses, which were not open-use and limited in use. There were also many concerns about privacy and whether you could legislate against the use of glasses in private spaces as happened with Google Glass.
