Gigabyte Announces USB 3.2 Gen2 Expansion Card

Interesting announcement made by Gigabyte, who has presented a PCIe USB 3.2 Gen 2 × 2 expansion card. The solution presented what offers us a USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port for those who want more connectivity. It is also compatible with systems based on Intel and AMD processors. A card is from Gigabyte that offers us a transfer of up to 20Gb / s, double that of its predecessor.

It may be the case that the chosen motherboard has poor connectivity or simply has good connectivity and we have it busy. We may also need a higher speed communication port if we work with multimedia content. The fact of not needing to update the motherboard is also something to consider.

Gigabyte launches a USB 3.2 expansion card

This expansion card is based on USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connectivity. What this connectivity offers us is a significant improvement in bandwidth over the previous generation. The USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C offered us 10Gbps, while this card offers us 20Gbps.

We must consider that USB 3.2 Gen2 is only usually present in very current and high-end motherboards. This is proposed as a simpler solution and brings this port closer to users with more modest motherboards. It also saves us money, as changing the motherboard can be quite expensive.

Gigabyte announces early availability of USB 3.2 Gen2 card

The company highlights that this solution is designed for users who are happy with their current setup. Gigabyte stands out that it has been thought especially for users who have seen the arrival of this standard after purchasing their motherboard. To install it we need a PCIe x4 port, something quite common on modern motherboards.

We have to point out that Gigabyte has not yet provided price and availability data.
