LG plans to launch 'gaming' televisions with 8K support thinking about the next consoles from Sony and Microsoft

Next year LG Electronics is planning to launch 'gaming' televisions with 8K resolutions developed for the next generation of consoles.

There are two aspects of modern computing that have gone the least. The first is the excess of RGB in all products, which is absurd. The second is to shoehorn the word 'gaming' into anything. Armchairs or pouf have even been presented with this name. Now come the 'gaming' televisions that LG Electronics would be manufacturing thinking about the next generation of consoles.

Surely these televisions will have RGB, will be worth € 100 or more than the model without this term and will offer little else. These televisions will be with 8K resolution and would be intended for next-generation consoles. They will offer more or less the same as any television, but with higher image resolution.

LG could launch the first 'gaming' televisions in 2020

This new LG TV will have an 8K @ 60Hz OLED panel and will feature the Realtek RTD2893 SoC. Thinking about the next consoles, if it is difficult for them to have the capacity to offer 4K @ 60FPS, reaching 8K @ 60Hz is absurd. It will integrate a 2.5G Ethernet controller to support high fiber optic speeds.

Thanks to the Realtek processor, the LG TV will be able to decode AV1 / HEVC / VP9 video formats in 8K resolutions. In addition, it will allow you to manage frame rates and rescale content from 4K to 8K resolution. It will have support for HDMI 2.1, which will allow the use of Variable Refresh Rate technology. USB, PCIe and Bluetooth connectivity will be added.

Theoretically, Xbox Project Scarlett and the PlayStation 5 will support 8K in video, in games or by chance. The new consoles of both companies will hit the market in 2020.

LG already has an 8-inch 88K OLED TV with Alpha 9 SoC with integrated AI on the market for $ 42. The only 550K OLED TV in Spain is the 8-inch Sony 98Z9G that costs 98 euros. Come on, these televisions cost a fortune and they will not buy more than four freaks.
