Acer and ASUS monitors, with 4K @ 144Hz, NVIDIA G-Sync and HDR only reach 120Hz
The first, in the front. Acer and ASUS monitors with 4K @ 144Hz, NVIDIA G-Sync and HDR do not offer 144Hz as standard, they only reach 120Hz and you have to do some adventures to get to 144Hz.
A year and a half late, a few days on the market and the first problems are already beginning to jump with the new 4K @ 144Hz monitors with G-Sync and HDR technologies as standard. Acer and ASUS a few days ago launched these new monitors designed for gaming, which cost $ 2.000, which converted to Euros, would be approximately € 2.100. These monitors should reach 144Hz refresh rates, with ten or twelve GTX 1080 Ti in SLI, but it seems that the standard refresh rate is every 120Hz.
Acer and ASUS $ 2.000 monitors are rated at 120Hz
The ASUS RoG Swift PG27UQ and the Acer Predator X27 are the first two that support 4K @ 144Hz and have HDR technology and NVIDIA G-Sync. They are a monitor freak, requiring at least an additional € 2.000, only on graphics cards, because there are no solutions on the market that are up to these monitor aberrations.
The panels of these monitors are from AU Optronics, a manufacturer with a lot of prestige in the industry and that offers very good quality panels. ASUS and Acer advertise the monitors, as they can reach 144Hz and we say that they can arrive because they only give 120Hz as standard and it seems that they are capable of AU Optronics.
To reach 144Hz, in addition to a string of NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards (the most powerful gaming graphics cards on the market), we need two DisplayPort cables, since the DisplayPort 1.4 standard only offers refresh rates of 120Hz . The second step is to manually overclock the monitor to achieve 144Hz.
Not all hardware and technology buffs are caught up in the news, as the first products to implement brand-new technologies are often quite lame in terms of quality and reliability. The first 4K TVs on the market didn't do exactly well and were extremely expensive. The first SSDs to be sold were worth a fortune and had very limited durability. This is the wheel. Better to let a year or two go by, for prices to drop and technologies to be well polished and bug-free.
