NVIDIA Shield TV: presents two new models, one cylindrical and one with a 'conventional' format

Introduced the new NVIDIA Shield TV in cylindrical format and the Shield TV Pro with the 'conventional' design, both based on the Tegra X1 + chip.

The arrival of Google Stadia is generating a lot of movements in the technology segment. One of the multimedia solutions for gaming and entertainment is the NVIDIA Shield TV. This device is intended for multimedia living room entertainment. The new version of this platform will have two versions, one 'conventional' rectangular and the other circular, which attracts attention.

These two Shield TV models will have a fairly simple multimedia remote with a triangular format. The controller will have the typical buttons to move and also a giant Netflix button. The controls also have backlit buttons that work with two AAA batteries and a microphone compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant.

New NVIDIA Shield TV announced

The cylindrical model has a height of 135mm and a diameter of 40mm, with a total weight of 137 grams. The RJ-45 connector and the power connector have been integrated into one of the external ones. Also at the other end you have an HDMI 2.0b and a micro-SD card reader.

This new Shield TV will be based on the Tegra X1 + processor, improving performance by 25% over the Tegra X1. This processor also adds the ability to play multimedia content. It will support 4K @ 60FPS video through HEVC or VP9 codec. HDR support will also be added as well as support for Dolby sound.

In addition, this will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It will also offer 2 × 2 802.11ac WiFi connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0. The Shield TV Pro has the 'conventional' design with a size of 159x98x2.59mm with a total weight of 250 grams. This model offers us 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. This also has all of the above and two lateral USB 3.0 connectors.

The Shield TVs integrate a Chromecast 4K with all Google features that works under Android 9.0. This allows access to the entire Google ecosystem. Shield TV features GeForce Now gaming on demand service and support for Prime Now platforms, HBO, etc.

The NVIDIA Shield TV is priced at € 159.99 and the Shield TV Pro is priced at € 219.
