Plextor EX1 a high performance external SSD hard drive.

Plextor is best known for its high-performance solid-state drives ( SSDs) , but now it's taking things a step further. Plextor has just unveiled a small and lightweight external SSD. The Plextor EX1 features a high-speed OTG port and weighs a mere 30 grams. This Plextor drive delivers impressive speeds via its USB Type-C port , which is backward compatible with USB 3.1 Gen 2.

Thanks to its USB Type-C port, it offers read speeds of 550MB/s and write speeds of 500MB/s, significantly faster than USB 2.0. The Plextor EX1's high power and performance are based on Hynix's 16nm TLC NAND flash memory and the latest generation of SMI controller ICs.

This unit from Plextor has also used advanced firmware and includes the PlexNitro app which gives the user more control. It will hit the market at the end of this month of November in three capacities, these being 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. These Plextor EX1 implement such high quality requirements that Plextor has decided to include a 3-year warranty. Prices for these units have not been disclosed, but these units, due to the high performance it provides, will not be exactly cheap.
