A limited Pokemon card sells for $195.000
A collector has sold a card from the Pokémon card game for almost $ 200. It has been sold at Weiss Acutions in New York.
Tech Deal recently reported on the sale of a very rare and limited Pokémon card in exceptional condition. The card in question is the one featuring the “Artist Pikachu” illustration, and is one of between 20 and 39 limited edition copies of that card that ever made it to the public. They were given as prizes to a select group of people who participated in one of three 1998 art contests held by the Japanese magazine CoroCoro, which is the magazine that features Pokémon news.
A luxury letter
Prior to the auction, this particular Pikachu Artist letter had to go through a rigorous inspection process by specialists in order for its legitimacy to be verified and corroborated. Apparently, various counterfeiters have managed to make impressively detailed forgeries in an attempt to scam collectors.
The last time a Pikachu Artist card was sold for $ 55 in 000, while a sealed box of cards from the first edition of the Pokémon card game fetched $ 2016 earlier this year.
This card absolutely broke the record for the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold at auction. The previous holder of that honor was also another card from Pikachu Artist that was sold for $ 100 in 000. Since these cards are all in the hands of private collectors, there is constant demand and they barely go to the public, their price does not stop. to sell. The most curious thing is that this card has practically no value in the card game itself since it has no effect on the game and only includes a greeting to the bearer, who originally won the CoroCoro magazine drawing contests.
