These days during CES 2021 a lot of hardware is being presented. Yesterday AMD presented its new Ryzen 5000 Mobile processors and NVIDIA its RTX Mobile graphics. Well, ASUS has combined both components in the RoG Strix SCAR 17 gaming laptop, which would be the most powerful today.

It seems that the days when high-end gaming graphics were reserved for Intel CPU-based systems are over. This would be the first gaming notebook based on a Ryzen Mobile processor with a high-end RTX Mobile GPU.

RoG Strix SCAR 17 is based on the Ryzen 9 5900HX processor, the beast unveiled yesterday by AMD. This 12-core, 24-thread processor can reach 4.8GHz in one of the cores and is based on the Zen3 architecture. But, this processor does not come alone and is that it is combined with up to an RTX 3080 Mobile @ 16GB GDDR6. Finally it supports up to 64GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz.

We will have several versions of this laptop, which allows you to choose between several types of panel. On the one hand we have a 17-inch FullHD panel with a 360Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response time. Then we can choose a WQHD panel with a refresh rate of 165Hz and support for the DCI-P3 color gamut. Both models support Adaptive Sync technology.

Something very interesting about this ASUS RoG Strix SCAR 17 is that it has a new cooling system based on Arc Flow fans and liquid metal as thermoconductive paste. According to ASUS, this is up to 3dB less, less turbulence and an optimized dust system.

It has 4 speakers and support for Dolby Atmos technology. A technology that will allow you to accurately hear the origin of footsteps, shots and any other sound. It also has a bidirectional noise cancellation system based on Artificial Intelligence.

ASUS states that the ROG Strix SCAR 17 features a 90Wh battery that offers up to 12 hours of video playback. It supports fast charging and also supports 100W USB Type-C charging.

It has an optical-mechanical keyboard to offer the highest possible precision. The keys have a 1.9mm travel and offer individual RGB lighting per key. The touchpad is also increased, making it 85% larger.
