Intel puts new guidelines on its Intel Evo label for 2024

With the official announcement of the Intel Core Ultra model CPUs of the Meteor Lake series, new functionalities and improvements in the performance and efficiency of laptops are introduced, especially ultralights. Stands out from the Low consumption Meteor Lake series the inclusion of the NPU and low-power cores, designed for maintained applications that use Artificial Intelligence in some way, such as blurring the background in the video conferencing on Zoom. For this reason, Intel has released a new series of guidelines and new requirements for laptops that want to be in the Intel Evo range.
What is the Intel Evo range? We explain it to you
Table of Contents
Intel Evo label requirement by 2024
According to the official materials provided by Intel, the next laptops, which will have the Intel Core Meteor Lake, will have to meet the following requirements in the different categories:
Instant Action
- Be up and running from sleep almost instantly with Adaptive Connected Standby or Lucid Sleep. The goal is less than 1,5 seconds.
- Biometric login via fingerprint sensor, facial recognition or phone proximity sensor via Bluetooth.

Unlimited
- Intel Core Ultra 5, 7 or 9 processors.
- Intel Arc Discrete Graphics, or from other manufacturers.
- Windows 11 2023 installed as standard.
- Technology Intel Adaptix with Intel energy efficiency optimizer.
- More than 8 GB of 128-bit RAM in dual-channel configuration and more than 256 GB of space on a PCIe SSD.
Prepared for Artificial Intelligence
- AI-assisted dynamic background noise suppression.
- Integrated NPU.
- Microsoft Studio Effects included as standard.
- It may include proximity detection, gaze-based image dimming, and proximity-based locking enabled by context sensors, as enabled by Intel Visual Sensing.
Intel Evo 2024 battery
- Fast charging using a USB Type-C connector. The goal is to charge 4 hours of battery in 30 minutes.
- Integration and optimization of low-consumption components and support for co-engineering for energy efficiency.
- More than ten hours long with more intense workloads than before. The testing is used using laptops with 1080p resolution. With larger resolutions such as QHD you may experience less stringent battery life.
Connectivity
- Intel Wi-Fi 6E (Gig+)
- Intel Connectivity Performance Suite 3.0 on Windows
- Thunderbolt 4 interface in USB-C connector
- Additionally, it can have connectivity through LTE or 5G
Form factors
- FHD screen from more than 12 inches to 16 inches.
- Backlit keyboard.
- Touchpad.
- Possibility of using QHD/UHD and OLED screens
- Graphics cards will need to measure less than 15mm for integrated graphics, or less than 20mm for dGfx designs with or without a fan,
- They will be able to have form factor designs of thin and light chassis, 2-in-1 laptops, and folding screens with narrow bezels for a more immersive experience.
- Immersive audio with premium hi-fi audio codec, or speaker and microphone tuning.
- The front webcam must have a resolution of at least FHD 1080p at 30 fps, with additional effects for image processing optionally, and VCX Metric
- Regarding the noise it generates, it has been tested with qualified ports and all of them reach a maximum surface heat of 41ºc with a noise of no more than 19 decibels.
Multi-Device Configuration
They must use Intel Union to connect to other PCs, smartphones, and tablets.
Sustainability
They must have ≥EPEAT Silver or TCO certification.
