NVIDIA Requires Laptop Manufacturers to Display the TGP

NVIDIA recently announced its new Ampere architecture graphics cards for laptops. The company has made changes to its laptop solutions. They have decided to remove the Max-Q and Max-P models to simplify things for users. But also NVIDIA wants the user to have all the data, so it requires laptop manufacturers to show the TGP.

The computer hardware market situation for this year will be truly dramatic. We find it difficult to find high-end graphics cards at reasonable prices on the market. In addition, price increases have been announced for SSD, RAM and motherboards, in addition to those registered in graphics and processors.

Returning to the subject of notebooks with NVIDIA graphics, the company requires that the TGP be displayed. They basically ask for the total graphic power and working frequencies of the RTX 30 Mobile to be indexed. The idea is that the user has all the data before acquiring a new laptop.

NVIDIA had stated in this regard: “We strongly encourage OEMs to list this data.” Unfortunately, Dell (Alienware), ASUS and MSI were not displaying this data. Since some manufacturers were not heeding this request, it will now be mandatory. Gigabyte and ASUS itself already display this data. The European company Schenker gives even more information, including the Max-Q status, as does its commercial division XMG.

We are requiring OEMs to update their product pages with the Max-Q technology features for each GeForce laptop, as well as clocks and power, which communicates the expected performance of the GPU on that system.
