Origin PC presents a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
A few days ago the XMG APEX 15 laptop that stood out for implementing an AMD Ryzen 9 3950X processor. Little else is known about said laptop, but it has emerged as a fairly prominent competitor. Origin PC, acquired a while ago by Corsair, has announced an EON15-X laptop with the Ryzen 9 3900X.
It is not the first time we have seen something like this, the MSI Titan has an Intel LGA1151 socket and integrates a Core i9-9900K processor. This Origin laptop is based on a Ryzen processor, so it will be more powerful and more efficient. To install this processor, an AM4 socket had to be integrated into the laptop's motherboard. This allows us to change it for another processor at any given time.

The first thing to make clear is that AMD's Ryzen 9 3900X has suffered significant frequency cuts. It continues to count, of course, with 12 cores and 24 threads, but with fewer frequencies. Specifically, the base frequency goes from 3.8GHz to 3.1GHz, while the Boost frequency goes from 4.6GHz to 4.3GHz. This has allowed to adjust the TDP, going from the original 105W to the 65W of TDP.
Modifying the frequencies down not only reduces the TDP, but also loses some performance. The good thing that it brings us is that the laptop is somewhat smaller and lighter than if the TDP were the original. Specifically, this laptop weighs 2.68 kilos and is 32mm thick, making it more manageable.
This laptop has a 15.6-inch screen with a 1920x1080p resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate. We can combine this processor with up to an NVIDIA RTX 2070 MaxQ, of which no more data is given. It has two DDR4-2667 DIMM socket, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, it has several USB 3.1 Type-A and one USB 3.1 Type-C. It also has an HDMI, a DisplayPort, an RJ45 connector and a fingerprint reader.
On the price and availability, there is no data.
