First images of an AMD VEGA 10 graphics card

Thanks to Linus Tech, we can finally see an AMD VEGA 10, although it is an engineering version, which indicates that they still work on this graphics card.

Linus Tech, who else, has achieved what seemed impossible, get a picture of what is supposed to be a new AMD VEGA graphics card. This graphics card, which is in the production process, has an AMD VEGA 10 chip, which would confirm that it is a graphics card whose GPU integrates HBM2 memories. If only a couple of days ago we saw the VEGA chip with the HBM2 during CES, now it has been a 100% operational graphics card.

After the New Horizon disappointment and the ridiculous countdown on the VE.GA website to show some absurd videos and a simple draw for a VEGA, now we have finally seen an AMD VEGA. The photo, which is what interests us, does not seem to show on the PCB, the typical soldering area of DDR5 / X, which would confirm what was seen a few days ago, which uses HBM2 integrated in the DIE of the processor .

Little else we can know, since we can only see where the GPU and the illuminated Radeon letters would be located, since the rest is hidden, quite shabby, with tape, especially the power area has been hidden, but knowing that it will consume 225W the top of the range, possibly hiding double power of at least 6 PCIe pins. We must also take into account, as Raja Koduri, from AMD to Linus Tech, comments that it is an engineering graph, it is not the final version of the product at all.

Like any other high-end graphics card, this one has a dual-slot heatsink to try to cool the Vega GPU as well as possible, which could indicate that it is not a graphics that takes as much temperature as some of its predecessors. Since it would be an engineering sample, it would not be working 100%, that is, the working frequencies would be lower than in a final version (although we do not know the frequencies).

Something that is striking is that it does not have a connection for CrossFireX, this is undoubtedly due to the fact that it is an engineering version, which is designed for testing voltages, temperatures and frequencies, since it seems to be, that it also hides some connectors ( some of these can be seen on the left side), intended for information. It also stands out that the plastic of the heatsink almost touches the PCB, so it does not reveal almost anything.

VEGA should reach the market before summer of this year and it is the first time that we were able to see it, officially, since the previous occasions they said it was there, but we did not see them. It is something interesting, but many things have been covered, but something is something.

NOTE: we can see that the graphics card has a USB port, this is because it is an engineering version and this is used to see the temperature and working voltages of this graphics card.

  1. The crossfire at AMD stopped being made by hardware since the r9 200 series. It has nothing to do with being an engineering sample.
