Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor to arrive in 10nm and debut in 2018
Qualcomm will launch the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor next year, which is based on 10nm and has slight improvements, because Qualcomm has trouble jumping to 7nm.
Not only processors for computers evolve at great speed, processors for smartphones also evolve at great speed and in 2018 we will leave behind the Snapdragon 835 from Qualcomm. The new processor will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which will be manufactured in the 10nm LPE process, not making the jump to 7nm, something quite complex and not to 10nm LPP, like Samsung's Exynos 9810, which just a few days ago has been officially presented.
This new Snapdragon 845 differs slightly from the current Snapdragon 835, since it also makes use of eight cores, with a Cortex A75 core and another Cortex A53 integrated additionally. Perhaps, the point that evolves the most is the graphics that it will implement, being the Adreno 630. There is not much more information about this new processor, except that it will offer support for dual cameras up to 25Mpx, both in the rear and in the front. Support is added for WiFi AD connectivity, allowing speeds above 1.2Gbps and additionally it will have the X20 version for all bands.
About the terminals that will carry the new Snapdragon 845 we do not know much, except that we will see it in three terminals, predictably. The first to implement it will be the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 +, but in this case only for versions available in some Asian countries and the United States, while the third will be the Xiaomi Mi 7. It is the little that is known about a processor, which Although it improves the performance of the company's existing processor a bit, it has not been possible to make the leap to 7nm and it is becoming more and more complex to reduce the size of the transistors.
