QNAP officially releases QTS version 5.1.0
QNAP Systems, Inc. has officially introduced the new version of its operating system for its NAS fleet, NAS QTS version 5.1.0. This new update includes several enhancements for storage, service, and management applications.
In the new QTS 5.1.0 release, QNAP has enhanced its 2,5GbE-, 10GbE-, and 25GbE-ready NAS solutions to offer sustainability for multichannel SMB, as well as improve network performance for demanding workloads.
New key features of QTS 5.1.0
Enhancements to File Station improve finding and managing files. Its new user interface allows you to quickly find files that have been recently updated, opened and deleted. It also allows you to search for files through various search and organization functions, based on the Qsirch full-text search engine.
The multi-channel SMB add multiple network connections to maximize bandwidth, available with higher transfer speeds. This comes as an ideal enhancement for transferring large files and multimedia content. It also offers network fault tolerance to prevent service interruption.
With QTS 5.1.0, AES-128-GMAC is supported for SMB signing acceleration, only on Windows Server 2022 and Windows 11 clients. This greatly increases the efficiency of data signing via SMB 3.1.1 and improves the CPU usage of the NAS system.
QNAP Authenticator mobile app is now available to configure a two-step login process for NAS accounts. security methods include temporary one-time passwords, QR code scanning, and sign-in approval by another person; in addition to allowing login without a password.
Delegated administration hopes to improve administration productivity and data security. With it, NAS administrators can delegate eight types of roles to other users with certain permissions for NAS data and management tasks. For growing organizations, role delegation helps reduce administration workload without sacrificing data access controls.
