Raspberry Pi PIXEL, a portable operating system

Raspberry Pi launches the PIXEL operating system, which does not need any type of installation, only direct execution from a DVD or pen drive.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has developed an operating system that aims to resurrect your old computers and give them a new life. This new operating system is called PIXEL and is based as it could not be otherwise, on Linux. One of the goals of the Raspberry Pi is to provide high-performance, low-cost equipment for those who cannot afford high-end devices. Following this premise, they have started to develop PIXEL and offer it free to everyone.

According to the foundation, PIXEL is the GNU / Linux operating system that we will want to use. PIXEL provides us with a desktop environment based on Linux, but with a modern, clean and minimalist interface. It comes with Chromium pre-installed as a browser, an office suite, as well as specially selected software, educational games and programming tools.

PIXEL is currently a pre-release version that walks PIXEL and Debian for x86 platforms. This new operating system can be installed on any computer, even those old computers or laptops and even Apple computers. The computer on which it is installed must, as a minimum requirement, be 512MB for PIXEL to function.

It can be easily downloaded from the Raspberry Pi website and then burned to a DVD or placed on a USB drive. Insert the DVD or drive into your computer, boot from the BIOS, and configure it to boot from the drive containing the operating system. You can then use the PIXEL desktop environment without further complications; no installation is required.

Eben Upton, co-founder of Raspberry Pi, also warns users that infection and other problems could occur with Apple equipment that is too new. Upton has also commented that we must bear in mind that PIXEL is currently a prototype and we are still far from seeing the final version, so there could be hardware and other incompatibilities.
