They steal about 32 million dollars in Ethereum from the Parity platform

New theft of Ethereum from user accounts, in this case from the Parity platform, by a hacker, who has stolen about $ 32 million in this same cryptocurrency.

If a few days ago we echoed the theft to an ICO in Israel, which changed the address of the wallet and stole about seven million dollars in Ethereum. Well, something similar has happened again, which in this case we are talking about a robbery with a much higher sum. The theft has happened in Parity, which is an Ethereum client that was launched last January of this year. According to its founder, Gavin Wood, the theft was due to a significant critical vulnerability within Parity.

This critical vulnerability, which has generated is that it has been stolen from three accounts, to which the hacker has been able to access, obtaining about 153.000 ETH, which is equivalent to the change in approximately 32 million dollars. The address where these capitals have been stored is known, and they have already been moved, with approximately half of the stolen funds being extracted.

The vulnerability was in the creation of the Ethereum wallets with several flaws in the Parity 1.5 signatures, which is the latest version available. This security hole allows outside users to take control of the digital wallets, if the users had authentication keys for the transaction. Wood has warned that their capital should be transferred to secure accounts and that they are working to recover the lost funds, but the task is not easy, precisely. To prevent further theft, the security of the rest of the accounts is being verified. It is possible that not only three accounts are affected, although there is no data from more affected user accounts, since other accounts would have been emptied, although it is assured that they could have been capital withdrawn for security and when the problem is resolved, they would return .
