Rumors point to two different RTX 4070 models, one with more VRAM and another with GDDR6

A few days ago, rumors emerged of new models of NVIDIA graphics cards, among which were Super models of its high-end graphics cards from the RTX 4000 series. Recently, new rumors have emerged about what could happen with the RTX 4070 models, and there would be both a better and a worse model.

They are possibly models to attract different spectrums of consumers and budgets. One of them would have a greater amount of VRAM and greater bandwidth, while another would lower the quality of its memory and go from using GDDR6X to simply GDDR6.

Two alleged new RTX 4070 models would go in opposite directions

According to MEGAsizeGPU, the RTX 4070 Super, which has not yet been confirmed, will use the AD103 GPU and have 16 GB of 256-bit memory. By using the AD103 GPU, it would have a larger memory bus compared to the AD104 GPU, which has a 192-bit memory bus. In this case, this new model would focus on increasing the card's memory capacity rather than increasing the number of cores.

On the other hand, they are also reportedly developing an RTX 4070 model with GDDR6 memory, which would mean a decrease in memory bandwidth. The price of this card will likely be similar to that of the 16GB RTX 4060 Ti. With the RTX 4070's higher core count, despite its lower VRAM and narrower memory bus, it could outperform the 16GB RTX 4060 Ti .

As always with rumors, we warn you not to take anything as confirmed. They could well be commercial products, such as products only for the OEM market, or simple laboratory tests that later amount to nothing. But for now, NVIDIA is faced with the fact that its graphics cards are not flying off the shelves after a few years of shortages and with users eager to get new graphics cards.
