Asus and Noctua announce the RTX 4080 Noctua Edition

Noctua has partnered with Asus several times to jointly create a high-performance graphics card model for enthusiasts, but equipped with Noctua's fans and material that prioritize silence. The union is maintained today, so they have announced a model of RTX 4080 Noctua Editiion.

It is the third graphics card to feature Noctua fans, and a heatsink that has been co-designed by Asus Noctua. This model swaps out the three 110mm fans for two of Noctua's 12mm NF-A25x120 PWM units, and a vapor chamber heatsink with five 8mm diameter heatpipes instead of two. These changes mean that the temperature and acoustics of the original ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 TUF Gaming have been improved on this model.

The quietest RTX 4080 thanks to Noctua and ASUS

The heatsink of the RTX 4080 Noctua Edition has been redesigned from scratch to achieve maximum thermal efficiency. A vapor chamber has been added for its superior heat dispersal capabilities to transfer heat energy to five 8mm heatpipes instead of two. The Noctua Edition provides better cooling performance than the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 original. This allows you to run at slower fan speeds, so it runs quieter than any other air-cooled card in its class.

When the fans are running at full speed, the reduction in noise levels reaches 14,9 dB(A). At medium fan speeds (70% PWM), the Noctua Edition is 16,8 dB(A) quieter and gets slightly warmer (0,8°C). According to Asus and Noctua tests, the RTX 4080 Noctua Edition provides lower noise levels throughout the entire speed range. The most notable improvement is approximately 15-17 dB(A) at medium to maximum fan speed and around 5 dB(A) less noise at lower speeds.

The included ASUS GPU Tweak III software offers additional possibilities such as setting custom fan curves or undervolting. By reducing the thermal performance of the card, undervolting allows the card to run even quieter. By lowering the GPU voltage by around 100mV, you can lower the GPU temperature by several degrees and thus widen the thermal headroom to slow down the fans even more.
