Today the rumors suggest that NVIDIA will present an Ampere product during the GTC 2018, although it is true that tomorrow information will come out that says no, that they do not get anything. So calm down.
The GPU Technology Conference 2018 or GTC 2018, is a technological event marked by the big brands in the sector and where news about what is close to hitting the market is usually announced. It seems that NVIDIA is preparing to give a lot of cane in this technological event, which was chosen last year by the company to present the Titan V, based on the Volta architecture and that has a cost of $ 3.000. Now it would be the turn of gaming and apparently, cryptocurrencies, because they would be developing a solution or exclusive solutions for this market.
We know that NVIDIA is working on a special solution for cryptocurrency mining to ease the pressure from the gaming market. This solution will be called Turing, after the father of cryptography. What is being rumored is that at the event it could present Ampere graphics cards, which will be the gaming version of the brutal Volta, for the professional segment.
Ampere began to be heard in November 2017 and at that time it was not taken very seriously, since it did not appear in any roadmap. Initially, it was thought of some type of product designed for Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing or perhaps a special chip for autonomous cars. Expreview expressed the possibility that it was a GeForce product.
Since then we have been moving in a sea of rumors around Ampere and they could end next month. Among other things, it seems clear that Ampere will be based on TSMC's 12nm, which improves consumption, offers more power and more overclocking capacity. It seems unlikely that they will use HBM2, because of how expensive and expensive it is to make and that it would generate stock problems, as it happens to AMD, so they go for the GDDR6 and that's it. At the end of March, which is when the GTC 2018 is held, we will leave doubts.
