Strong investment by Samsung, in its plant in China, which represents a disbursement of 7.000 million dollars, with the intention of doubling the production of this plant within three years.
There is good news in the field of NAND Flash memory chip production, but as always, let's take it with a grain of salt, as we can be disappointed if we fly bells early. Samsung Electronics has announced that it intends to double the production of NAND memory modules at its China plant. The announcement was made at the inauguration of the Xi'an plant in Shaanxi province, south China, which will receive an injection of 7.000 million dollars, to double production, within three years.
This investment includes the expansion of the current facilities and the installation of new machinery, which will allow Samsung to increase production, almost doubling it, which means the production of 220.000 wafers of 3mm 300D NAND Flash memory, by 2020.
This increase in investment in China is a bet by Samsung to cool relations with the Asian giant, one of the largest producers of NAND memory in the world. This investment is expected to dampen the country's protectionist policies somewhat. The investment in the Xi'an plant also responds to the fact that the company's South Korean plant is at a saturation point and is no longer yielding.
It is not the only company that is investing in the production of NAND memories. Western Digital has injected 4.710 million dollars, which will be given in a period of three years, for the manufacture of chips in conjunction with Toshiba, who had already invested a similar amount, adding between both companies an investment of 9.410 million dollars in a plant in Japan for the production of these memories.
