Filtered the first data of the Intel Coffee Lake processors, specifically of a processor that would have six cores and six processing threads with a frequency of 3.5GHz.
More data is being known around the Coffee Lake processors, the processors that, as we know, are several months ahead, arriving in September and that will be a rehash of a rehash. Kaby Lake has not had the effect or the expected reception and currently AMD Ryzen is cutting sales to Intel in a notorious way, betting on offering a solution that will provide 15% more performance, hopefully. The first data from the Intel Coffee Lake has been leaked in the SiSoftware utility.
Specifically, data has been leaked from what will be a six-core processor and six processing threads, which would work at a speed of 3.5GHz, would have 1.5MB of L2 cache and 9MB of L3 cache. The data may not be the final ones, especially if we take into account that the Kaby Lake architecture has 2MB of L3 cache per core, therefore these data seem strange to us. If the Kaby Lake line is to be continued in the Coffee Lake, these processors should have 12MB of L3 cache, therefore, it seems that something is happening to us or it is only an engineering prototype, although it may also be that SiSoftware does not has support even for these processors and is not able to read the data well.
Something that also strikes us is that we are talking about a six-core and six-thread processor, when it was said that Coffee Lake would have a six-core processor and twelve processing threads, therefore, it could be that we were facing a processor Intel Core i5, which would explain the cut in the L3 cache. As the days go by, we will see more data in this regard and we will get rid of the doubts that have arisen in these cases.
