AsaltadorMars tells us if FPS is earned by overclocking our components and we explain a little about what is overclocking, its benefits, its risks and the considerations to take.
Improving the performance of our equipment is quite simple with overclocking, and thus gain some FPS. This practice is quite common and has spread and popularized in recent years, since on computers that have been around for a while, this allows us to improve performance and allows us to run current games that with our hardware can sometimes cost a bit. Simply, the overclocking technique is based on increasing the frequency of the processor and the graphics card, something that can be done from the BIOS in a very simple way or through software.
We must bear in mind that for the practice of overclocking and therefore, improve the performance of our equipment we need to take into account some considerations. The first one is that we need compatible hardware. Not all Intel processors support overclocking, only those with the letter 'K' allow it and the AMD Ryzen allow them all, but only the X370 and B350 chipsets support this practice. We must bear in mind that although the processor allows it, we need good cooling, which means having a powerful heatsink installed capable of dissipating the increase in temperature or having liquid cooling, which is usually the best and most widely used solution.
Graphics cards generally support all of them, but we must bear in mind that the better the heatsink of the graphics card, to a greater or lesser extent we can overclock. Most manufacturers that work with AMD and NVIDIA offer graphics cards with powerful heatsinks, which allow modifying the frequencies beyond those already modified by the manufacturer that has assembled the graphics in question.
It should be noted that this practice can end the warranty of the components, so it is not recommended to do it in new equipment, we would reserve it more for equipment that already has a certain time and requires a plus to support current games. It can be done on new equipment, but this practice is usually done for users who will be using heavy software, such as video editors, to improve processing times. We must also say that overclocking what it does is sacrifice the durability of the components, since by making them work above the factory frequencies, the temperature increases and the chips suffer greater wear, with which we shorten the life of the components.

but do you gain fps or is it a myth?
It is not clear to me …..
Mother of mine, great article nen!
You can tell that you give hard to Boolean algebra….
