SMACH Z can run games at 1080p thanks to the AMD Ryzen Embedded V1605B APU

Finally, the Spanish portable console SMACH Z will receive the AMD Ryzen Embedded V1605B APU, which will allow it to offer great performance, allowing games to be played at 1080p and high quality.

The most promising Spanish portable console, it seems that it is taking more and more shape and the SMACH Z has received important updates. The most important is the AMD Merlin RX-421BD processor, which surely does not sound like anything to you, but this processor is based on the AMD Ryzen Embedded V1605B. The processor has four cores and eight threads with a base frequency of 3.0GHz and a 3.6GHz Boost mode and AMD Vega 8 graphics with 512 Stream Processors working at 1.1GHz, all with a TDP of between 12-25W.

This console has great power, as we can see, but not only in the data of the raw processor and the integrated graphics in it, also in terms of performance and it is that data has been given on the performance under some games and the thing is nothing, but nothing bad:

  • The Witcher 3 (720p - Medium Quality) ~ 40 FPS
  • Alien: Isolation (1080p - Low Quality) ~ 50 FPS
  • GTA V (720p - Medium Quality) ~ 60 FPS
  • League of Legends (1080p - High Quality) ~ 60 FPS
  • Rocket League (1080p - Medium Quality) ~ 60 FPS
  • Dark Souls 3 (720p - Low Quality) ~ 40 FPS

In addition to this, the SMACH Z has 4GB of DDR4 RAM @ 2133MHz in the basic model and a 64GB SSD, while in the SMACH Z Pro it has 8GB of DDR4 RAM @ 2133MHz and 128Gb of SSD. Both models have a 6-inch touch screen with a FullHD resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels.

Regarding connectivity, it has 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR 4.0, it has USB Type-A and Type-C ports, a micro USB, microSD card reader, minijack connector so as not to disturb anyone in the subway and like operating system we can choose SMACH OS Linux or Windows 10 Home.

Above the price of the SMACH Z, this will be $ 699, while the SMACH Z Pro will be priced at $ 899. The prices are clearly very high, but it lets us see what the consoles will be in the future and the possibilities offered by the solutions developed by AMD, who have developed extremely powerful APUs that will surely give life to new generations of the Nintendo Switch and possibly to some Sony portable console.
