Fairphone 3: Announced the New Ethical Smartphone Model

Fairphone 3 arrives more than three years after the exit of Fairphone 2. They maintain the idea of a mobile with conflict free material, ease of repair and with the intention of being recycled.

Right now a mobile is a product with a large ecological footprint, with materials that can come out of places in conflict. For years the Fairphone company has as a mission to market a mobile with the least possible ecological footprint, and they are not doing very badly since they have already launched their third version: the 3 Fairphone.

The Fairphone 3 maintains the keys that have made it interesting to those who want to take care of the environment. On the one hand, it is easy to repair, something that they carry from the beginning with the intention that anyone can remove the components themselves and replace them if they need to repair it, always made of recycled materials or, failing that, from sources that do not obtain materials. premiums from conflict zones.

The smart, ethical and sustainable mobile

To achieve this they have separated it into seven modules, similar to the Fairphone 2, which at the time produced a 10 in iFixit, declaring it very easy to repair at home. As for the Fairphone 3 components, they ensure that the tin and tungsten come from sources where there are no wars for raw materials, the gold is fair trade, and the copper and plastic are recycled.

The specifications are somewhat modest, for example the rear camera only reaches 12 megapixels and the front one at 8. The processor is a Snapdragon 632 that has been around for a while, with 4GB of RAM and 64MB of internal storage and a battery of 3.000 mAh. It's not big, but it's interchangeable, so you can replace it when it starts to degrade.

The Fairphone 3 will go on sale on September 3 at a price of € 450. Yes, there are much better phones in that price range, but this model goes to those who want sustainability first of all, something that many people are already beginning to consider, even if it means more limited benefits. It also serves as a message to other companies to improve their manufacturing processes and be more ecological.
