Google would be requiring Android manufacturers to send four security updates in a year
Google would be increasing the demands to put its applications on Android mobiles. In some leaked documents, manufacturers would be forced to deliver at least four security updates in the first year of the mobile if a mobile achieves a minimum of sales.
The topic of Android updates is one that is always going to give you headaches. Although Google generally developed it and it is free to use it, depending on manufacturers for operating system updates there are always delays and we have to be aware of what they say to note on the calendar when it will be available, if it is confirmed.
According to a series of documents that have been leaked to the press, Google wants to put even more control over manufacturers to update Android, this time with a few fewer excuses since there will always be someone who tries to escape. Among the most prominent requirements is that will be required to provide four security updates in the first year after the launch of the mobile or tablet, which would ensure that users are not too vulnerable.
Google requires security updates
They will also have to ensure that updates will arrive for two years, leaving the second year a little free, so it is possible that Google will put demands on it. However, it will not be mandatory for everything, but to be able to demand these updates, the mobile model would have to be activated at least 100.000 times and have been launched as of January 31, 2018, which will not oblige manufacturers that do not get to sell a lot. Of course, those who come out as of January 31, 2019 will all have to comply with these updates. Too they will be required to update within 90 days after finding a serious vulnerability.
We can only see this as an aid to consumers to force manufacturers to update their phones on security issues. Some might think that it is just as demanding, but considering that they are the most popular mobile operating system, it is difficult for any manufacturer, large or small, to stop using it due to the benefits that using Android gives.
Obviously this is not confirmed and Google has not said anything about it.
