Huawei says it will continue to release Android security updates

Given the recent events, from Huawei they assure that despite the Google veto they will continue forward in the smartphone market.

The last hours in the smartphone market are being truly hectic. Google will stop offering access to Android to the Chinese company Huawei. This prevents the Chinese company from accessing security updates and Google services on Android. Basically it would stop having access to the Play Store and applications like YouTube, Gmail and others. Although it is true that any application that we use will continue to be updated. Now Huawei has spoken about this problem.

Huawei responds to Google's restriction

The smartphone manufacturer has not provided data regarding future Android updates. Everything indicates that for now Huawei will have restrictions in terms of updates to the Google operating system.

"Huawei will continue to provide security updates and after-sales services to all Huawei and Honor smartphones, tablets and devices, both those that have already been sold and those that continue to be available for purchase worldwide."

To settle all this debate, the Chinese company wanted to make it very clear that "we will continue to build a secure and sustainable software ecosystem to offer the best experience to all users in the world." This could be interpreted as continuing to use or build on EMUI, their custom version of Android. It should not be ruled out either that Huawei has been working on its own operating system for some time. We will see more information about it in the coming weeks.

The next releases of Huawei and its subsidiary Honor, could have the appropriate certifications and licenses. These are possibly still based on an Android version from Google, but would not have updates. The problem is in the company's terminals that are already under development. Nor is it known how this will affect the sale of terminals of the second largest company in the smartphone market.
