Huawei prepares its map service in case you cannot use Google's
Huawei is preparing for a future without Google with its own map service. They try to be forewarned in case the blockade becomes complicated and they cut the use of Google Maps.
Huawei hates the blockade imposed by the United States, but being a giant of the Chinese economy they are not going to leave without more. They are strong enough to come up with their own alternatives in time in case the worst comes up and you don't have access to Google services, including maps.
Obviously they are not staying still and have already opted for a clear alternative in order to make the blockade worse. According to Chinese news, Huawei is preparing its own map service, and they are not bad at all, since if the development schedule is met, the announcement of the service is expected to be made in October.
The Chinese giant prepares its own maps without Google
The service would be called Map Kit, although unlike Google maps it will not be made available to the general public. The goal is to offer your maps to third party companies to make their own map applications.
Map Kit will have information from local mapping services, which is not much different from what Google and Apple do, hiring services from third-party companies that contact local mapping services. Huawei could Map Kit in 40 languages with real-time traffic information services, with such precision that they would detect a car changing lanes to recalculate the intensity of traffic.
If it goes well, it will be a good alternative to developers who use maps but for one reason or another access to Google's is not profitable or efficient. There will always be alternatives, even free and free, and Huawei has a great interest in showing that it can compete face to face with other giants.
